Help your Pool Weather the Season
A little care and attention now can help protect your pool and make the spring opening less stressful. Follow these simple tips to keep your pool in good shape through the winter:
1. Keep an Eye on the Water Level
It’s a good idea to check the water level under the cover every so often. If it’s too high under a safety cover, use a small submersible pump to lower it a bit. If it gets too low, it might indicate a leak. In that case, add water to bring the level back up to the closing height. This will help keep things stable until spring, when repairs can be addressed.
2. Check Your Winter Cover
Take a moment to ensure your pool cover is secure. If you’ve got a safety cover, confirm the straps are still fastened tightly to the anchors. For waterbag covers, make sure the bags are full and holding everything in place. If you’re using a lock-in cover, check that it’s snug in the track to protect it against strong winds and winter weather.
3. Clear Off the Cover
If you see hard or sharp objects on your cover, try to remove them as soon as possible. This helps prevent tears or damage, ensuring your cover stays intact and effective through the season.
